Sharks

Whats in the sharks mouth you ask? Easy that a seal. Isn't that crazy?
I was just watching a very interesting show on sharks and it really made me wonder if we are too hard on them. Did you know that 9 people a year die by sharks and 791 by toasters! Are you ever worried that you might die when you use a toaster? Not me that's for sure. And did you know that many commercial fishermen catch sharks and cut off their back fins just to use in soup in China? Then they throw the shark back to the ocean for it to sink and drown? I think it is so sad what people do to wildlife, I mean can they really help when they are hungry? Are they supposed to just starve? Do they really know the difference between the bottom of a surfboard and a seal? Well if you're still really worried about getting eaten by a shark here are some precautions you can take before you enter the water.

  1. Do not get in the water if you are bleeding or have any open wounds.

  2. Try not to wear shiny jewelry, the reflected light resembles the sheen of fish scales.

  3. Try to stay in groups.

  4. Refrain from excess splashing

  5. Avoid being in the water during darkness or twilight hours when sharks are most active and have a competitive sensory advantage.

Here are a few other things to think about, if you see dolphins in the water you are probably safe because dolphins will not be hanging out there if there are sharks near by, but if you see seals you should get out of the water because seals are a sharks favorite snack.

Safety precautions against toasters... just kidding. I also went to the driving range today and that was really fun, I hit some really good ones and I haven't been golfing in a wile. After a few baskets my sister and I started to try and hit the guy driving around picking up golf balls. Lucky for the people driving it that there is a cage surrounding it, because I came really close to hitting him... he was really close, but that's not important. I think I will go have some Ice-cream now.

Until next time,

~A
